London Reunion 10th October 2005

Nearly 80 attended the reunion at the Charing Cross Hotel.

Friends and colleagues, many of whom had not seen each other

for many years, were reunited over a few drinks and a splendid buffet.

WHITE EMPRESS/ CP REUNION

LIVERPOOL 23rd APRIL 2005

For those of you who could not come, you missed a very enjoyable evening. About 95 came, mostly Empress folk but also very pleased that 5 ex cadets came to lower the average age! It is always the same at these parties, you never get round to speaking to everyone - mind you I was able to catch up with some at midnight over a couple of beers.

As usual the Adelphi provided a central venue and the buffet was ample and excellent. There was enough to go round.

Many friendships were renewed. Dave Townson came over from Canada and met up with Bernie Shone (Barkeeper) who served him his first pint of Guinness.

I think that this was our 7th reunion - will there be an 8th? Everyone leaves by saying "see you at the next one"

shared a most pleasant afternoon in De Wandeling and Zoersel Bos.

The fine lunch, splendid company, great weather and old times stories with

Piet - as usual - the great story/jokes teller, made the afternoon fly past.

From the photo you will probably recognise the majority of the boys,

sharing between them, from their per head joining CP till today, a total

of 354 years of "service". This headed by the Nestor Louis Smet(80 years)

joined the company in 1948.

 

On account of the "late" hour the Dutch could not join the planned walk

to the history loaded "het boshuisje". Willeke and I guided them through

the woods and villages in the direction of the highway to the border.

 

All together it was a most pleasant gathering and we all agreed

We shall meet again and we know ... when ... March 22,2005 and

... where ... either same location or Rotterdam.
