I have recently received a request
from Mr Joe Clark, one time Purser with Orient Line, for cine film of
any CP Passenger ships. His hobby in retirement is making DVDs of liners
mostly of now defunct lines.
He would like to make a film of
Canadian Pacific Ships. He already has some footage of Duchess of
Atholl, Empress of France, Empress of Britain and Empress of Canada,
most of which was amateur footage taken in black and white and colour.
Mr Clark wondered whether anyone had
any old cine film which could be converted to DVD, for FREE. You can
view his website at

The Empress of Canada was the last passenger liner built for Canadian
Pacific Steamships Ltd, and certainly was the most attractive ship in
the fleet. Her interiors are not only delightfully spacious, but had
that understated British charm. Her cabins are large compared to the
modern cruise ship, and still features some fine timber features. When
purchased by Carnival, she received a comprehensive refit, giving her a
bright new feel. As the Mardi Gras, she became one of the most popular
cruise ships in the American cruise market, so much so, that Mardi Gras
was the success story that made Carnival what it is today, the largest
cruise company in the world.
Interiors shown on this page are those of the Mardi Gras, which remains
mostly unchanged as the Apollo and Apollon.

Epirotikis Apollon, seen laid up, awaiting her journey to the breakers
Apollon ex Empress of Canada was beached at Alang India on December 9,
2003. Crown Steel Company is the ship breaker. Prior her departure had
been a number of overtures to save her, sadly these failed. Click here
